Privacy Policy

This policy covers everyone who uses Pitt County Deals: shoppers browsing or contacting local businesses, businesses ("Hosts") that list on the Platform and manage their own customers, and administrators. Pitt County Deals is based in North Carolina, USA, and this policy is written with that jurisdiction in mind.

• Account information - name, email address, phone number, and password. Sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication (email/password or Google sign-in); we do not store your password ourselves.
• Business information Hosts provide - listings, photos, hours, services, deals, coupons, loyalty program details, and business contact details.
• Activity data - reservations, quote requests, reviews, messages, support tickets, and notification preferences.
• For Hosts: the customer records (CRM), loyalty points, and coupon activity a business maintains about its own customers within the Platform.
• Billing information for paid Host plans, handled by Stripe. We never see or store full card numbers - Stripe securely processes cards (including saving a default card via Stripe Elements) and we store only the resulting Stripe customer ID, subscription ID, plan, billing status, and invoice records.
• Photos, documents, and other media you upload, stored via Cloudinary (images) and Google Cloud Storage (documents/media).
• Communication data, such as marketing consent choices and delivery status for email, SMS, and WhatsApp messages.
• Technical and usage data, such as an anonymous visitor ID stored in your browser's local storage, and basic listing analytics like page views and clicks.
• Location data you choose to share (for example, using 'near me' search); address and location lookups are powered by Mapbox, OpenStreetMap Nominatim, and BigDataCloud.

• To operate the Platform - show listings, process reservations and quote requests, enable messaging and reviews, and display maps and location search.
• To process Host subscriptions, invoices, and billing status through Stripe.
• To send transactional messages (such as reservation confirmations and account notices) and, where you've opted in, marketing messages - including Host marketing campaigns and automatic birthday offers to opted-in customers - via email, SMS, or WhatsApp.
• To let Hosts manage their own customer relationships, loyalty points, and coupons for their business.
• To protect the Platform from bots and abuse using Cloudflare Turnstile on certain forms.
• To monitor and fix errors using Sentry, which may capture technical error data (such as device or browser information) when something goes wrong.
• To generate first-party listing analytics (page views, clicks) so Hosts can understand interest in their listing. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
• To moderate content, prevent fraud, and keep the community safe.

We share information only as needed to run the Platform: a reservation or quote request shares your contact details with the relevant Host; reviews you publish are public. If you are a customer of a Host, that Host can see the information you've shared with them (such as your contact details, reservation history, and marketing consent) as part of managing their own customer records. We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with the service providers listed below and when required by law.

We rely on trusted providers to deliver the service:

• Firebase Authentication - account sign-in and security.
• MongoDB - database hosting for account, listing, reservation, and other Platform data.
• Stripe - subscription billing and payment processing (we never handle full card numbers).
• Cloudinary - image hosting and uploads.
• Google Cloud Storage - document and media storage.
• Nodemailer/SMTP - transactional and marketing email delivery.
• Twilio - SMS and WhatsApp messaging.
• Cloudflare Turnstile - bot and spam protection on certain forms.
• Sentry - error monitoring to help us find and fix bugs.
• Mapbox - map display; OpenStreetMap Nominatim and BigDataCloud - address and location lookup.

Each provider processes data only as needed to provide its service to us.

We use an essential session cookie (pcsd_session) to keep you signed in and identify your role (customer, Host, or admin). We also use your browser's local storage to remember an anonymous visitor ID (used for first-party listing analytics), UI preferences, and, where applicable, your favorites. We do not use cookies or local storage to sell your data or to serve third-party advertising.

• View and update your profile from your account settings.
• Change your email address or manage sign-in security from the Security tab.
• Manage which notification channels (email, SMS, WhatsApp) you receive, and opt out of marketing messages at any time.
• Request access to, or deletion of, the personal data we hold about you by contacting us (see below).
• Delete your account at any time. Account deletion cascades your associated data on the Platform and removes your Firebase authentication user.

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service and meet legal, tax, or accounting obligations (for example, Stripe invoice records). When you delete your account, we remove your personal data and the content you own, subject to limited records we may retain where required by law.

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including secure authentication through Firebase, encrypted connections, access controls, and bot protection via Cloudflare Turnstile on sensitive forms. No system is perfectly secure, so we encourage you to use a strong, unique password and keep it private.

The Platform is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16, where applicable local law sets a higher age), and we do not knowingly collect their information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above when we do.
